So nobody wonders what's going on.

The plan for this page is deliberately boring, which is why it will actually stay current.

The city keeps one Google Calendar. Whoever already handles scheduling adds a meeting or an event the same way they add anything else to a calendar — from a phone, from City Hall, from home. This page reads that calendar and displays it. There is no separate website login, no CMS, and no training.

The one rule: put a star (*) at the front of the title of anything residents should see.

That is the whole system, and it is built that way on purpose. Staff use this same calendar to leave each other working notes — a balance still owed, somebody's name and phone number, who to follow up with. Anything without a star stays private and never reaches this page. Forgetting the star publishes nothing; there is no way to leak a note by forgetting a step.

Two more safeguards behind that: the notes/description field of an event is never published at all (only the title, date, time and place), and if a starred title still contains a phone number or a dollar amount, the whole event is held back rather than cleaned up — because a title like that was written for staff, not for residents. If an event you starred is not showing up, that is why: rewrite the title the way you would say it to a neighbour.
