Nine places to bank
Where your banker still knows your name.
For a town of under six thousand, Columbia is unusually well banked — two branches downtown on Main alone. Here is all of it, listed and not ranked.
Downtown
Within a few blocks of the courthouse.
Trustmark — Main Office · 709 Main Street
Trustmark — Broad Street · 722 Broad Street
Citizens Bank — Main Office · 814 Main Street
First Southern Bank — Second Street · 340 Second Street
Four of the ten sit inside the Broad Street–Church Street and Main Street blocks, which is a large part of why downtown still functions as a downtown. A bank on the corner keeps the other businesses on that corner alive.
Trustmark's Main Street office also stands on the site of the original Hill Hardware store, which burned in 1916.
Along the bypass and Highway 13
The rest of them.
BankPlus · 428 Sumrall Road
Citizens Bank — Park Avenue · 625 Highway 98 Bypass
First Southern Bank — Columbia · 1075 Highway 98
Regions Bank · 1000 U.S. Highway 13 North
Most of these open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday — but call ahead rather than trust a website, ours included.
Credit unions
Two member-owned options.
Ferguson Federal Credit Union — Columbia Branch · 519A US-98, Columbia, MS 39429 · (601) 806-3328
Hours — Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. · Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ferguson FCU is part of the CO-OP shared-branch and ATM network, which means members can use branches and ATMs well outside Marion County. Membership eligibility is set by the credit union, not the city — ask them.
Zellco Federal Credit Union — 547 Eagle Day Avenue, Columbia, MS 39429 · 601-731-2245
A credit union is member-owned rather than shareholder-owned, which is a real difference in how it prices loans and pays on savings. Worth a conversation if you have only ever used a bank.
Why this page exists
Neither ranked nor recommended.
The city does not endorse, rate, or recommend any bank or credit union on this page, and takes nothing from any of them. Every entry carries the same fields in the same order, grouped by where it is rather than by anything else.
If a branch has moved, changed hours, or closed — or if we have missed one — tell us and we will fix it. Details were compiled in July 2026.
Opening a business?
You'll need one of these on day one.
A business account, an EIN, and a privilege license from City Hall. The order matters less than starting — and the whole checklist, with what each step costs, is on the business page.
